Vasudev (Ravi Kishan) and his wife move to America after Vasudev's father Sitaram (Jeetendra) doesn't approve their marriage. Several years later, Sitaram receives a letter informing him that Vasudev and his family will soon be visiting them in India. Sitaram eagerly awaits his son's return, but when only his granddaughter Sita (Kajol) turns up at the doorsteps, he is infuriated. He refuses to accept the gifts that Vasudev has sent with Sita. He asks Sita to persuade Vasudev to visit him. Sita wants to speak the truth, but is unable to do so. What exactly happened to her parents?
