Shanti, a poor woman is living with three sons and two daughters. She wants one of her daughters Sheetal to be married to a man named Ram. The trouble comes when Ram's mother asks for a dowry of 1 lakh rupees. While it's unaffordable for the family, one of Shanti's sons Amar plans to work abroad to earn the money. But when Shanti comes to know about it, she stops Amar from going abroad even if Sheetal's marriage gets cancelled.
