An ingenuous, naive heiress named Anita (Madhubala), living under the wings of her extreme-feminist aunt, Sita Devi (Lalita Pawar), is forced into a 'marriage of convenience' with an unemployed cartoonist. After marriage, Anita and her staged husband grow closer and do not wish to separate. But Sita Devi employs every trick in the book to get them to divorce. Where will this sham lead all three of them? Will the aunt allow their love to blossom?
