Hari Shankar (Ashok Kumar) comes to claim his inheritance - a beautiful mansion known as Shabnam Mahal. From the caretaker of the house, he learns the history of the strange portrait on the wall with his face on it and the tragic end of two lovers associated with the house. Later, Hari sees ghostly apparitions of a beautiful surreal woman. The housekeeper as well as his friend ask him to stay away from the haunted dwelling, but the more he lingers, the more he's drawn to her. What will be the result of this unusual encounter? Does Hari Shankar break out of her spell?
