Firaaq' is a social drama inspired by the 2002 violence in Gujarat. It looks at the repercussion of the riots, and how it affects different people belonging to different stratas of society, from a woman in an orthodox Gujarati family who has a cold-hearted and abusive husband, and an urban Hindu-Muslim cross-culture couple, to a poor muslim family whose house is charred to ashes, a Gujarati girl trying to help her Muslim friend, and an old Muslim singer, all of these people face loss in one way or another.
