Daasi' is the story of an orphaned girl Mangla (Moushumi Chatterjee) who faces one heartbreak after another. Mangla's marriage is arranged with a blind man Anand (Sanjeev Kumar), after her lover Anoop (Rakesh Roshan) betrays her. Initially hesitant to accept him, Mangla eventually falls in love with Anand's caring nature. But when Anand realises that Mangala is in touch with Anoop, he drives her out of his house. Meanwhile, heartbroken Mangala gets herself hired in Anand's house as a maid-servant. She pretends to be dumb so he wouldn't hear and recognise her. Will Anand ever forgive Mangla? Where will Mangla's search for lasting peace and love finally end?
