Mukesh (Vijayendra) deserts his wife Geeta (Sarika) when he realises that she is illiterate. He hides this fact from Jyoti (Zarina Wahab), Dr. Gupta's daughter and eventually gets engaged to her. Geeta, on the other hand, is indebted to Dr. Gupta (Ashok Kumar) for many things, which is why she decides to marry him. What happens when Geeta comes face-to-face with her past?
